Dr. Mark Paul Selda Rivarez is the new Assistant Professor of Phytopathology and Virology at UBC. Dr. Rivarez’s work focusses on field-deployable diagnostic tools: Imagine a “lab-in-a-box” that can quickly identify plant diseases right on your farm, enabling faster and more targeted interventions. This can help prevent significant crop losses by allowing for early and precise disease management providing faster, more accurate diagnostics and data-driven insights, we can help reduce reliance on broad-spectrum chemical treatments, improve crop yields, and strengthen agricultural biosecurity against emerging threats.  Join us for an introduction to Dr. Rivarez and to learn more about research projects being planned at the UBC lab.
