Synopsis

A project to develop new methods for the control of the two most prevalent grape pests, the Virginia creeper leafhopper and the climbing cutworm. This investigation will include vegetation management, shown to be very promising in some preliminary work; enhancement of beneficial insect populations; feeding trials with a new, natural product; and the development of potential anti-feedants. A substantial portion of this work will be applicable to the organic sector, which is experiencing sustained growth in British Columbia.
