Winter student placements are now open — with wage subsidies up to $7,000
Looking to bring fresh talent into your agricultural business this winter, without stretching your payroll?
Registration is now open for CAHRC’s Growing Opportunities Winter Term (limited spots available!)
Growing Opportunities (part of the Student Work Placement Program) connects post-secondary students with ag employers for paid, work-integrated learning placements and offers wage subsidies to make hiring easier.
Here’s what’s in it for you:
- Wage subsidies: Receive 50% of wages (up to $5,000) per placement, or 70% (up to $7,000) when hiring students from under-represented groups (including women, Indigenous students, newcomers, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, and first-year students).
- Access to motivated talent: Students bring fresh skills in tech, data, sustainability, communications, engineering, business, and more, not just traditional agriculture programs.
- Real support for real workforce gaps: Placements help ease labour shortages while giving students meaningful, hands-on experience in agriculture and agri-food.
- A triple win: Employers gain capacity, students gain career clarity, and the sector builds a stronger future workforce.
The Winter term runs from January 1 to April 30, and applications are now open.
