SUMMARY:Wildfire & Smoke impact resources virtual session: Part Two
DESCRIPTION:As a follow-up to the session held on August 20\, join the BC Wine Grape Council and the BC Wine Grape Industry Task Force for a presentation on how our industry is preparing for the future impacts of wildfire smoke on wine grapes. \nDuring the session\, you’ll receive an update on current research to build an early-warning risk forecasting tool that gives growers microclimate-level insights during wildfire events\,  including how smoke-aroma precursors build up in grapes with cumulative smoke exposure\, how those precursors change during fermentation\, and how they correlate with the perception of smoke in finished wine. The session will also cover sensory benchmarking for detecting smoke exposure in wine\, plus a new training program to support quality assurance and consumer confidence in BC wines.
